** The one star is not aimed at the grounds itself but a member of staff***Myself and my partner walked onto the grounds during the winter season to the house as we were recommended by friends that it was a lovely walk, but as we walked on we realised that it may of been out of season for the public. After realising this we both agreed to walked back towards the entrance where we were confronted by a member of staff on a quad bike (possibly grounds keeper) who blocked our way and started to shout at us for trespassing. We politely told him that we did not see any signs saying the park was closed and didnt mean to cause any destress and said we'll be on our way, but this individual proceeded to threaten us whilst using provokative Language, we manage to slip by him whilst he shouted "DON'T EVER COME BACK HERE". Although we didn't see much of the grounds we could tell that it was very much well cared for but sadly this particular power-hungry member of staff has left us quite shaken and we'll definitely won't be back any time soon. As two full grown adults that both work with the general public we wouldn't dare speak to anyone like the way he did.
A nice walk around an up and down garden , plenty of water features , so those if you with very young children be vigilant . A pot of tea and nice home made cake to round your visit.

Marvellous place for a day out. 5 entry fee is well worth it. Lovely cafe and great soup.Gardens are fabulous any time of the year. Very fairy tale setting. Great for children too.
